No it's not your fault. It won't be a proper road if the left/right vertices do not balance. I don't think PSDL Viewer can handle it either.
Of course you can't create roads with invalid geometry. C ...

About the number of vertices, I will take a look to it.

AVW1, The problem of road slopes happens always when one side of the road is higher than the other, it happens too in SF, so it's a problem of mm2, not the program.
