The last 24 hours you might have noticed forum.mm2c.com returning 403 errors. We know what is causing it. We don't know why it is causing it.

It's hard for me to do any debugging at all, because these errors do not show up for myself.

As always, we're sorry for the inconvenience Smile

If Rippance doesn't know why it's causing problems, then no one else here will able to figure it out. Trust me. Wink

I have still to see one of these errors myself, but I suppose my time will come. Neutral

Well, looks like it was fixed. No insane load averages and no odd occurences. For the geeks among us ..

The shell scripts that were backing up the MySQL databases first shut down Apache and then MySQL. After backing up, it starts MySQL and then Apache. The scripts were making use of /etc/init.d/httpd stop/start to stop/start Apache and /etc/init.d/mysqld stop/start to stop/start MySQL. The server was having some problems with Apache's PID file (e.g. not removing it), which resulted the server in thinking that httpd was already running, but it wasn't.

After changing the scripts to using Apache's control interface (/usr/local/apache/bin/apachectl) it doesn't seem to have any problems with it anymore.

Or something along those lines. Woei, first four MySQL backsups went fine. Wink
