Well, I hope we get these formats cracked sometime Smile

As what hass been suggested before, if the 3D and textur formats are mastered, new content is possible, and the cities and cars can be converted to MM2.

It it possible to get the files for MM3 from the DVD directly? If so, I want to do some poking and prodding of my own, as I don't have an xBox. I really should get one some day...

Anyways, do you have a copy of the screenshots and files madness_sting psted in here, as I'm building a wiki and the screenies are impostant Smile

Sorry for the double post, but...

Yallis, if you need to set up one of those computer hash cracking things, with a bunch of computers donating unused resources to your hash cracking (I can't remember the name.), I'll be glad to set one up and promote other people to donate resources Very Happy

hash cracking things? Is that like one of those things where a bunch of computers on the internet work together to form a super computer?

Yes, by using a modded Xbox. The discs are formatted with a proprietary filesystem and encrypted.

Nope, they weren't really groundbreaking afair.

Signing content is only needed if it's added as Downloadable Live Content. Finding colliding hashes is not a question of computer power, every hash would have to be tested on the Xbox in order to verify it. SHA-1 hashes are 160 bits, that makes 2^160 reboots (worst case) — not worthwhile. And I have no intention to guess Microsofts 2048 bits private key or to break RSA. Wink

The Nintendo DS community cracked the nintendo ds cartridge's 128-bit RSA signature, through donation of computer power i believe. Now unofficial content is being pumped out all the time...

But since you said its 2048 bit, we're hopeless. Sad

This may be a bit off topic but... Fragnatic was working on a mm3 on pc tutorial a while back while midtownmadness.net was still up. I'm not sure if he is still working on it, but if it gets released, it will make this a hell of a lot easier. I think it was scrapped though... Sad

I was also wondering, what are "bits?" I'm a bit of a n00b at pc stuff...

I'd also like to know how you're transfering stuff from/to xbox hdd?

One last thing: This is great, and keep up the hard work Smile .

I'll give Frag a shout.

Bits are a filesize unit, and 8 bits make a byte.

Yallis either has a modchip iin his xBox, or has a softmod installed.

Searching the web, mm3guy scrounged up 2 Xbox-Scene forum topic related to MM3:
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=102616
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=100132

They're probably useless, but all bits of research helps!

I was just talking to him on ICQ, and Microsoft "doesn't like the idea," so he is not allowed to release it.

Stupid fxcking Bill Gates... Rolling Eyes

That modding stuff is pretty cool. It seems very similar to the .vehcarsim and .vehcardamage files for mm2.

Kind of off topic: To possibly make mm3 pc version: If someone copies all the MM3 files from their modded xbox to their PC, can't we just make an executable file?

Tell him to give it to me, and I'll release it as my own. I'll write disclamers, and Msh1ts won't be able to touch me.
