i think topics over 1 or 2 months old should be locked so people do not bring up abandoned projects. and if the author wishes to continue his wip, he should contact the moderator or administrator or something.

It's a bit of a waste of time to be locking all those topics and to keep a running tab of all topics so that the instant they go past one month they can be locked. Plus, if that rule is applied in the CE/PYP forums, shouldn't it apply for all boards, too?

I don't think old topics should be locked at all.

People get flamed for starting new topics that have already been discussed, then people tell them to do a search. So someone does a search and has something to add to what they find, they add it and get flamed for recovering an old topic.

The only topics that should get locked are ones with offensive material and fights, and ofcourse the basics like Advertising and stuff.

The whole locking because it's old is just stupid.

Half the topics created are stupid, are you gonna close them all? This is supposed to be a place to hang out and kill some time, and up-tight moderators are ruining it.

this is supposed to be a place for chatting about MM2, modeling, etc. Not about your latest dance, new girlfriend, etc. And moderators are the boss, they aren't just some crazy teenagers that run a probably ruined forum. They are people who stop crazy things from happening. Such as spam, unecessary offensives, and most of all, people acting like real idiots. (Even I get Evil or Very Mad sometimes.) They run a decent forum with REAL people on it.

I agree with Stratous, locking threads because they are old might be useful in the soap box, but only in the soap box and since I don't care much for the soap box, why bother? Wink

The mm2c foras are made for exchange of information mostly concerning how to mod the game or about particular mods made by the members. If people made a new thread every time anything new was discovered about a certain file format or aspect of the game or for every update of a project it would be completely impossible to find relevant information about this format, feature or mod. The information would be spread out too thin to make any sense at all. If all information is collected in a single thread, then all people have to do to find the answers is to read that thread in its entirety. Ok, this could be a long thread with many posts, but if it was several threads with just two or three posts in each it would be a lot worse.

So, if you get flamed for putting an old thread back on top, just ignore the flamers. Of course, as always, your post must add something new to the thread. Posts like "Any news?" are considered to be spam by every member here, and for that, you might even deserve some degree of heat...

And for you people who fear that threads older than a week might jump out of the monitor to strangle you - give it a rest and have a Cola. If the thread was raised by spam, just ignore it and it will go right back down again. Adding your own spam to it doesn't help at all.

Hear hear, fre_ber. Thumbs Up

If someone has something worthwhile to add, then who are we to disallow that? On the other hand, if some 'forum challenged' (for the lack of a better word) decides to add a LOL to a year old topic, then who cares? If that one topic appearing in the listing confuzzles you to an extent in which you cannot remember how to get up and go outside, then I'm sorry.

Junkyard? Perhaps you might want to consider following our forum rules first before posting things like that.

Perhaps you'd like to elaborate and perhaps you'd like to explain how you would go about solving, apparentely, this problem.

We're all open for suggestions.

well, sometimes our accounts CAN get hacked with spyware, viruses, etc. So the person posting might NOT be the person who owns the account.

Anyway, we need to settle down on the "LOL" and the "Any news?" like fre_ber and Rippance said. Also, we do need to end those topics that really don't have any meaning to anything anymore. Like if the last post was 2 years ago and it was about a senseless comments like "Who made MM2?" We DO need to get rid of those. But we need to keep the old topics like "How do you add lights?" or "How do you add sounds?" Those some new people or people that don't know how to do those would need.

And, seriously, please stop flamming people about senseless things.

That's all I have to say.
