Back from the dead. Dead of course being alcoholism. Well...if that were so, I guess I wouldn't actually be back. Anyways

Made some progress on this 'un:

It's modeled after my real life work truck. I just need to model some tools/buckets and a
spare tire to go in the bed and it'll be spot on, heh. Still needs engine and interior modeled. Dunno how detailed to go on the bottom, so the exhaust and my tow hitch aren't done yet.
All tex are extremely high res since I got a good source. The truck is rockin two 2048x2048 maps currently...
dunno how that'll go over ingame.

Polycount is around 46k including wheels so far.

Heres a car I've been redesigning for a few years now, this is it's 3rd iteration.

It's based largely on my previous Chevelle redo, the Supersport concept. The front is all new, and many other little areas
have been altered/reshaped. I added a new dash/console and swiped the underside from GTA4 cars. The rear
is the same as the supersport, since I was happy with it's design. Whaddya guys think? I think I need to hit the lottery so I can build one Smile

For comparison, here are the other 2 concepts;

Work should resume on the caddy after the truck is done.

Wow. Just... wow. That concept is **** amazing. Looks like it should be in production. You better hope Chevrolet doesn't steal your idea, because that thing is just damn sexy. If you hit the lottery, build two because I'll be wanting one Wink

Look who decided to drop by. Welcome back, Burner. Your work is awesome as ever.

I'll never figure out how you map like that. Those chrome parts are pretty nice. Although, two 2048x2048 tex's for a 46k car might be pushing it (for MM2). You'll have to drop the details like the engine and reduce the tex size to 1024x1024 (dont worry, you dont have to map it again) to avoid lag.

Yup, I've been eyeing that Supersport concept ever since you first started it. Nice new improvements on it. Its not bad for a first concept or a third edition of the first concept, but it could be improved some more. Something about the rear end is just off ........I think the rectangular border and the circular taillights dont go well together. I would say remodel the taillights to be more coherent with the rest of the body.

Also, get a new paintjob. Right now, the black and orange is screaming "Dodge Challenger rip off" Razz lmao

I think that the only change you should make on the back is make the black part less flush with the rear of the car (like push it in a bit). I think that would give it a pretty cool look Smile

Shut up and leave. That's totally unrelated and irrelevant to this. Rolling Eyes

Thanks everyone Smile

I though the same about the back, so I redesigned the rear.

I think it better matches the front, but it has a girly car look to the back of it to me.
It looks like a combination of cobalt, mustang and new camaro. It's hard to design something that doesn't look like something else, heh. Oh well, I'm done with this design for now.

Another comparo pic.

About the 2048x2048 tex, I'll show you why so high on it's next update Wink Most tex is already done even though everything isn't modelled.

Now that looks awesome! Job well done. Thumbs Up

Dont tell me youre using 2048p for the doorlines' sake. There are better ways to make doorlines.

That design of the 3rd gen. is very good and original. I haven't seen the
first one till now, more classic look, and Cuda taillights i guess? Keep up
the good progress!

Just got this one back from Mindf*ck, my partner in crime from GTAforums who does all the overworking/converting of my cars.

He took my 63 Corvette Big Time Muscle coupe, the 65 Corvette convertable's interior/misc parts, the engine/trans from the casket hotrod(check previous pages in this topic for pics of those cars), and put em together to make this. Along with a buttload of improvements and scratchbuilding the entire bottom. He did an amazing job, and at this point, may have more time invested in the thing than I did in building the parts from the 3 diferent cars he used. The bottom/suspension, retrofitting convertable interior into coupes, and new body tex are all his, among many, many here and there things. The end result: There isn't enough ass for this thing to kick.

For everything, the car sits just a bit over 60k polys.

I understand concerns over the tex, I figure I oughta show one to help illustrate why they are so big. Here is one of the maps for the truck so far (its big..1.12 megs in jpg form).

You can see the immense amount of diferent parts that need textured, and this truck would have apox ten 1024x1024 tex maps if I didnt combine them into the two 2048x2048 maps I got now. The other map is just as packed, and I'm not done yet, modt engine tex haven't been created.
And I figured, hell since I got the high res pics, might as well use em, it's not often I have such great pics to work from when making a car, you'd be amazed at some of the crummy tex I've passed off on cars before. Mindf*ck should be able to tell ya Wink

Ingame the maps could probally be reduced to 1024x1024, the detail loss would probally not be that great unless you really zoomed in.
