Post subject: Getting rid of... Reply with quote

Good evening. I have recently noticed that the XBOX part of this forum hasn't been touched in a while. How about of getting rid of it to save bandwith etc? Just a thought.

Sorry if it offended you.

Save bandwidth? There are many other arguments to think of, but saving bandwidth is not one of them. This server has almost 1TB of bandwidth available each month and we don't touch half of that these days.

I am keeping it for historic reasons. It still serves as a knowledge base for users who are interested in the game. I see no point in getting rid of it, unless it harms your user experience on these forums.

1TB? Shocked That's a lot, and you said that the ads on the main site are pretty much paying for the site? Surprised

Folks...1 Terabyte = 1000GB... that's not all that...so the Shocked was a bit overrated... Cool

Im sure he could get then somewhere between $99-159 per month since he is on a dedicated server. I think Ripp said his Google ads cover the costs. Not sure.

There are shared servers that offer 6Terabytes of transfer plus whatever space for $6.95 per month or lower.

Well there is no contract but it's 2 years for 6.95...it gets maybe a dollar a month more expensive for shorter time packages. I guess that would be a contract.

You guys are totally out of the loop.

Each year, Rippance goes down to Spain or some other country nearby and resumes his role as a male stripper.

The money from a weekends work is more than enough to keep the server chugging for another year, plus gives our lovely admin the high class lifestyle that he diserves.

You can't have legally singed the contract. You can't sign any type of contract until you are 18 over here.

My site is done through my mate at school. Easy.

Tim is right.

Also, the dedicated server costs $79/month. Given the current Dollar - Euro exchange ratio, that's not a whole lot anymore. The ads break even these days and sometimes I need to chip in a bit.

As for the bandwidth, I meant we have about 1TB available. We don't use as much as that. Not even near it.

I'm perfectly comfortable with where we are. It might not be obvious to you guys, but there are about 10 more sites running on this server.
