Post subject: Traffic lights Reply with quote

Right so I'm making a city. 1.) How would I make traffic lights.
2.) Is there any way of creating traffic lights that arent actually at a junction?

I'm relying on you smart people to answer this.

Well if you are having traffic in our city you would use Maxoff's tutorial. If not create your traffic light model in zmod. Texture it all. Then for yor basic light textures {red, amber green} the image you need to animate. suffix the texture -0001 then cp[y that texture then suffix that -0002 and so on until you have a decent change from red... then amber, then green. Th best way is in the same texture say it's 512x512 do two sets there so that if you are having a junction or whatever you can assign one texture to set one and the other to set two without the need to do too much texture making. Although when assigning, save the texture as normal without the -0001 , change the textures to -0001 after {you can have the -0002's etc. there.
Then, test in game, if it is too fast or too slow , create a movie file called name.movie in the TUNE folder {name beign the same as your traffic light} Then open in notepad and copy and paste
Code:
rate 2
you can change the rate to anything between 1 and 5 which deterines the speed. You need to keep testing this ingame to confirm that it is the correct speed.

Good luck

It's easier following Maxoff's tutorial of making city with traffic..if your
aim is that of cause. But if you're making a city with traffic, you should
make kind of a template for the X-roads, the verts around the crosswalk
should be 90 degrees to the crosswalk..well i didn't explain that well, read
the tutorial and you'll get it.
