I waited some time to notice a change because I didn't (due to a fast connection). So last night when the connection dropped a bit, I really did notice a change. Before, the forum would load half, or sometimes miss out on pictures, or lag a bit, but this time, it was fully loaded. It's an awesome addition, good job Ripp and whoever made it Razz.

Though of course people on Dial-up would love it.

People who live in places where they can't get anything else, or, this may shock you, people who can not afford anything else.

I don't know, just ignore that. Although I think some dial-up is $5. Razz

There is quite a noticeable difference. And besides, dial-up depends on how long you use it, and on how much your telecommunication provider charges you. In the UAE, dial-up is Dhs.2 per hour; that's pretty cheap.

Indeed. In our house there is atleast one person on the internet at any one time from about 7am til midnight. So it pays for use to have broadband. Whereas if you were a person - with a lack of interest with the internet - who simply wanted to check their e-mails every week you'd be better off with dial-up.

Yes, but I don't need to worry about that. We have a margin of at least 700GB a month these days. Wink

wow nice man...

Dial up is more expensive here than DSL...you can get a 256kbps package cheaper than the lowest dial up package (20 hrs limited)...obviously they want people to shift away... .

I am enjoying my 2MB quite a lot...dunno how I would ever go back.

That's nice? Razz Hostmonster gives you 15,000GB a month. For only $7 a month. So does Bluehost, or whatever it is called (the host mmarchive uses).

Lol, it's the maximum, but it's not like some months they decide to give you less lol.

Lol, then that's rad. But eventually, it comes down to what you want. The 15KGB would be good for those uber-big and heavy-traffic sites.

You nubs... Rolling Eyes

Rippance is on dedicated hosting which means his server is 100% his (rental) and all performance is dedicated to him, all the processing power, memory buffer power, storage, etc...So small packages, e.g. 10GB space and 1500GB Transfer might cost $99 bucks a month (just an estimate of the top of my head)

Bluehost may have all that space, but their servers are shared...meaning up to 1000 clients can share a single server...which means all sites data transfer are processed through the same CPU, same RAM, etc...making the output very slow in comparison to a dedicated servers like Ripps... and if one site has a massive data outflow...all the others have to pay the price of slow loading and download times.

Wiki:
Dedicated: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dedicated_hosting_service
Shared: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shared_hosting

@Ammaar, Bluehost, the company which I am with as well...
max 1500GB storage
max 15TB monthly transfer

all those bells and whistles...still doesn't make it great cause it's shared and high traffic sites would cringe trying to process data activities...especially high end forums.

I know a guy who's on dial-up, he will be getting broadband when he gets his new PC though. Smile

I haven't noticed any change really, my broadband is so slow google takes at least 10secs to load. Mad
For sites like mm2c I expect large loading times anyway. Rolling Eyes
