Post subject: Splitting a City to reduce lag Reply with quote

Hello all,

I had started to make a city, and had released a version of it to my yahoo group members, however it lagged quite badly.

So i just wondered, how do you split the city up, to reduce lag, so the city is in sections, and so the sections all line up in game?

Any Help Much Appreciated

You cannot split a city up but still have it as one city and reduce lag. You can make the city different sections, but it will not reduce. The only way to reduce the lag would be to split the city into different sections and have each section as a separate city; if you made the city then you should know how to do that. Wink

Mainly depends in which way you've made your city. I think you used .pkg files; if it's so, you can remove the _L and _VL LOD objects or replace them with very low polygons ones. This will reduce the lag, but you'll get less quality in far viewing.
However if you say some other is better, we can know more.

That would just be the same but more pkgs Sad

How about doing what Hummers said split it up so say you have 32,68, 99 etc then just have 32 and say the 68 runs over most of the 32 route then have that as one city
