I wouldn't be so sure they are going to suck. The announcement makes it pretty clear EA realized they can't continue what they've been doing and must find a new way to maximize the appeal to their target audiences. That they are changing the nature of the NFS franchise so much was something I expected, but not that they are doing it simultaneously with three or four different titles.

The sole fact that EA is changing directions stops me from writing it off. If they hadn't and had gone ahead with cranking out another version similar to the last four ones, I would have agreed with Tim.

Still, it's one of history's biggest examples of franchise milking

Good point is all I can say to that.
Sometimes words aren't powerful enough.

I think the guys bashing the Shift title are going a bit too hard on it.. Considering that the Blimey!/Slightly Mad Studios franchise is now developing it, there is now a relived potential for it to be a decent sim. I don't expect it to be the next GTR Evolution, rFactor or GT5, but they do have the expertise to make it a good sim title.

A divided and more refined focus sounds like a good idea to me, rather than having Black Box under the pressure to make one game that lives up to everyone's expectations.

NFS: Porsche Unleashed is still the best... that is, if you have an old enough graphics card to display the game properly... Razz

Indeed! I was very upset when my old computer came, with a nVidia FX5200 came and the textures didn't work properly Sad

I still like NFS: PU. They should like redo it with really good graphics now and it'd probably be better than anything released since the original PU. lol

All they really need to do is improve the graphics to today's standards, and keep the physics engine and gameplay aspect... maybe they could make a NFS: VWU Wink
