Hey, no offense to anyone who made a tutorial on making cars, but
I need a simple fast tutorial on how to make a basic, non-fancy,
bare-bones, car( make a ford festiva type car).

I want the very, absolute basics, the things absolutely needed to
be able to put the car in mm2.

Thanks.

Look at the top sticky in this forum Rolling Eyes
That's as simple as car making gets.

the slightly easier way of making a car is someone make it for you which I really doubt would happen lol.

but other than that.. the top stickied tutorial is as easy as it gets

I was thinking of making a video tutorial on how to make a 500-polygon car. Ofcourse, viewers should already know how to use basic ZModeler functions and how to setup blueprints.

How does a simple low-polygons (500-polygons) car look? All of the following have 500 or less polygons. Ofcourse, the looks also depend on your Photoshop skills (for making those textures).

No, there isn't any way to do it other than using 3D modeling software... Otherwise there'd be a ton more vehicles for this game every day.
All cars are basically created the same way, so you just gotta take some time and learn it. Really isn't hard.

If you know that there is an easier way then why haven't you modeled anything yet for MM2? Wink

There's no easier way, you just gotta have patience and some free time. Nice looking cars can't be made in half a day or sorta.

Unless you're Burner, but he's extremely experienced in modeling.

No, not like a new of modeling the car, i mean fewer steps to making a car.
Thats what I meant by saying making bare bones of car, like if i didnt put lights on my car would it still work in mm2?

Here is the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM requirements for a car to get in game:

In the Z3D file, you need atleast a body, some wheels, a shadow and bound. They should all be textured, have their axes centered and they should all sit above the center gray line (as seen from FRONT, BACK or RIGHT views in ZModeler). Here are their proper names:

  • BODY_H
  • WHL0_H:m
  • WHL1_H:m
  • WHL2_H:m
  • WHL3_H:m
  • SHADOW_H
  • BOUND

To make the .ar file, you need some folders. Here are their names:

ABSOLUTELY NEEDED:
  • BOUND
  • GEOMETRY
  • TUNE

GOOD TO HAVE:
  • JPG
  • TEXTURE

OPTIONAL:
  • AUD

NOTES:
- If you dont have TUNE folder, the car will not show up in game.
- If you dont have BOUND or GEOMETRY folder, games crashes upon main loading or city loading.
- If you dont have JPG folder, game crashes when you try to view the car's showcase. So you really dont need this folder either.
- If you dont have TEXTURE folder, the whole car will appear white (unless you used ZModeler's coloring system).
- If you dont have AUD folder, you wont hear any engine sounds.

Thats pretty much it. To learn more about the folder contents and putting it all together, just ready LESSON 5 of my tutorial.

I didn't know you didn't actually need the tune folder Surprised
Either way, custom tuning is always best.
