I doubt you actually can make intermittent rain or wind for mm2, I mean.. come on, you are expecting a little too much from a 10 year old game aren't you?

I'm almost positive you can make MM2s rain intermittent. There are a lot of things that can be edited in the file for the rain. I edited it some years ago when I made my flood rain mod. So you should definitely check out the file; I don't remember the name but it may be "rain". Laughing

You can create your own sky ball/dome and textures. dummiesboy did it. You then could map your own textures to it, which might mean being able to do animated textures. That way you could have lightning.

Remember, poking around in MM2s core ar file is an easy way to learn more about MM2; most of the files are pretty self-explanatory in their naming, so it isn't too hard to figure out what a certain file may do, and almost all of them can be easily opened and edited in notepad. Wink

For what? If you mean for making your own sky, then no, there isn't.

You can make your own in zmodeler. I'm pretty sure dummiesboy made a sphere and had it inside out. I'm not too sure all that he did, if you ask for help on mm2x you might be able to get some help from him, and help from franch. He [dummiesboy] did say that he had to make it very big.

Just like I said, it is called "rain". "rain.asbirthrule", to be exact. Did you look through the mm2core file? Wink

You don't use the file to change the texture, you will have to make your own texture or modify a game texture and name it so that it overrides the appropriate game texture. The textures are located in the mm2tex ar file.

I also wanted to know how to do this, but nobody told me.

You can skip the dome part because you can just piggyback on (over-ride) dummiesboys sky mod. Then all you have to really do is make the textures.

But I dont know what size the textures should be, what format, what orientation (how they fit together in game) and how many textures are used to texture the skydome.

In zmodeler, on the geometry toolbar there is a sphere button, you can use that to easily make a sphere. You will have to tell it how many polygons you want it to be, and once it is made you will need to resize it. I forget how big dummiesboy said it needs to be. I know he mentioned some info about it on mm2x forum.

I guess you could do what Silent suggest, in which case you will need 4 textures per sky, each probably 256x256.
