I'm having this error where I just tpye anything into the address bar to search Google via Chrome, and then when I clikc on of the links in the search results it redirects me to some random page that has no relevance to the original which it was meant to load. Any ideas on what is wrong?

Use a different browser. I have no idea what's wrong. I have used Google chrome before, and that hasn't happened to me.

the conficker worm comes to mind here.

try going to websites like www.microsoft.com or www.symantec.com - if you can't access them, you probably have it.

you can still download the removal tool here if you can't access the microsoft website

First thing that came to mind was that, my dad had such a problem on his computer a few years ago. It was the same time that he had spyware though, but I wouldn't have thought it was spyware. Conflicker is your best bet. It also prevented him from downloading certain things that it thought might get rid of it though.

There is also a virus that does similar things but blocks certain functionality of your computer as well, much like the above but more extreme. It's incredibly hard to try and get something onto the computer to get rid of it as 90% of the time it will recognise it and block it. Malware Bytes comes in handy in such a case I'm told.

I'm in the process of doing so. For now, I'll use Opera (don't go off topic about how sh*t it is, because nobody cares!)

:EDIT: is there a 64-bit version of the Removal Tool?
