Haha, it's pretty much what I was looking for (cheap & decent).

They're arranged that way because it's the only way I can fit all 4 speakers in the room and have proper stereo sound instead of having speakers firing from all directions and at each other Razz I wish I had a measuring tape to find out how tall it is

Thought it was Floorstanders at first. Laughing

So does the amp have 4 channels then? You've not got 2 sets of speakers hooked up to the same channels have you?

Yeah, the amp has 4 channels. Well, technically six, but you do NOT want this thing attempting to use its Dolby Surround features (info). It will run 4 speakers at a time, because you can run an 'A' set and a 'B' set at the same time. Here's a picture, it will help make sense of my mangled words:

And here are some other photos that show the receiver's '80s-ness:

Ahh, I see what you mean. I didn't expect it to have a set B. Razz

Who cares whether it's old? As long as it delivers good quality sound to the speakers then it's decent enough.

Yeah exactly, I love the thing. It would be nice if it had a little more power, but I'd be getting out of A/V receiver territory to get the power I need.

If anyone cares, I got a full refund for the Denon AVR-2807 and then I bought a Denon AVR-2312 brand new from Richer Sounds for £399 reduced from original price which was £699.

Next item to buy is (when I have some more money) these Mordaunt Short Aviano 6s which will be the front speakers and match the rears which are the Aviano 2s.

At the moment I am just using the Aviano 2s as fronts and the sound is absolutely stunning. The bass sounds really deep and powerful. I don't regret spending the amount that I have.
