Post subject: Thoughts? Week 1! Reply with quote

Sup guys, I had an idea where I bring up a predominant issue in the modern day society every week and we discuss it like civil humans and share opinions. For this week, the topic is underage drinking. I, personally, think that it shouldn't be done as it may become harmful and a habit for younger people. On the other hand, it can be done responsibly with adults serving the drinks to keep them from binging or getting drunk.

Thoughts?

I thought you were a bot.

Underage drinking, it's going to happen no matter the legal age. Much like drugs, those that want to, will find a way no matter what.

Natural selection?

Though I see with the age at 18, high schoolers are more likely to purchase it (legally) and share with their younger class mates. Where as if it's at 21, high schoolers are less likely to obtain it so easily/openly, thus less deaths and teenage pregnancy.

This is what I've observed personally, but what I mentioned first is pretty much applicable to anything and everything.

I agree with what Tim had said above. It's gonna happen whether there are laws or not. People naturally don't follow all rules. It's going to happen. Just gotta live with it I guess.

I reckon he does but just doesn't post cause no-one else does. Everyone thinks like that so that's why no-one posts. I think we all know OMSI did this..

i agree with Tim on Week 1 topic of thoughts.

although it is now 18+ in Holland, from where it was 16+ here (light Alcoholic bevereges.... Wink
and the people who were 17, when the age of legal drink was raised, were/are still drinking, you can bet on it.
not in public though.

think that they find a way to drink underage, no matter what... Wink

You see, a lot of times, the government can't do much about a problem such as drugs or drinking. Or even a pandemic. They can try, but it's difficult to fix something you don't have access to.

Yeah exactly. The best thing you can do for alcohol and certain other drugs is legalize, regulate. I've been of legal drinking age for a couple years and it's still easier/faster to get other substances than it is alcohol. In high school, it was muuuuuch easier to get those than alcohol because you only have one source for the alcohol - Beer Store or LCBO - and they always check for ID. Meanwhile you had multiple people you could text, meet up with in 10 minutes in the hallway, and do an exchange for just about anything else.
