Post subject: MM2 Graphics on Current-Gen Laptops |
|
|
Hey guys, long time! Hope everyone's well.
So I have this laptop from 2014 (my only machine currently). I managed to install MM2 on it and run it through compatibility settings but I just can't remember what they are. I haven't been able to run it since. I dunno what broke it either (probably some Windows or driver update).
Specs:
Win 8.1
i5 4200U with Intel HD Graphics of course
6GB RAM
GeForce 820M.
The 820M is like the Intel HD. Not dedicated really and pretty low-end, though it does run stuff pretty smoothly.
I've personally never had to dealt with MM2 + intel graphics / any other internal video acceleration before, as I always had a desktop with a dedicated card. When I had an nvidia, mm2crc.exe fixed nvidia-related issues for me, but now nothing does. Everything is extremely choppy (on intel and nvidia both) and if it goes past the car-select screen (it usually crashes on the nvidia), it ends up with lots of artifacts. I recall some artifacts when it ran first on this laptop as well.
So, anybody have some insight or patch or anything that makes mm2 run properly? I've exhausted whatever I could from just settings and compatibility settings combos.
Thanks! _________________

I'm having a small issue, and I found the temporary solution out by accident.
When I run the game, even though it's running at 1366x768, the resolution is still really poor. As in, the things are scaled to resolution but the lines are jagged and you can't see anything in the distance. I minimized and resized to check why my screenshots were not saving and suddenly everything was finely detailed again. It seems that if I quit the game and start again, I will have to minimize/resize again to get the detail level back.
I've set up everything for details in the dgvoodoo app as well, but it seems it doesn't make any difference no matter what settings I choose. Or perhaps they are only being put into effect once I minimize/resize.
Any ideas on this? _________________
