Is it possible to add a blow-off valve sound effect to the sound files? it would have to be either when the car is between gears, or at the end of the rev's, i think between gears is a more likely option, but i wouldnt have a clue, can anybody help me? thanks Mr. Green [/b]

no its not possible as far as I know...but U could add in extra sounds at the end of the *.wav so when it hits high revs U could hear a "blow"sound.

Yep, Just go to the end of your Rev sound and add the "blowing" noise, so every time it shifts gears, it will do it.

No, it's not backfire. Have you ever seen The Fast and The Furious, when they shift gears the car makes a kind of whistling sound? That's the blow-off valve doing it's job.

Blow-off valves can be used on Turbocharged engines... as far as I know it prevents wasted boost... I think it releases some sort of pressure... If you have Grand Turismo (I think all of the versions have it)... just give a car like a stage 3 or 4 turbo kit and start driving... when you take your foot off the pedal (or switching gears, which in-turn makes you take your foot off the pedal)... you'll hear a little pressure release sound Wink

wow, im bored

When you accelerate, the turbo produces boost and pressurizes the intake manifold. When you let off the gas to shift or stop accelerating, the blowoff valve releases the excess pressure in the intake so that the boost drops and power is reduced.

Here's a good vid with the sound of the blowoff valve in operation at each shift, it's a modified twin turbo Supra. Right click and save please.

Here's a heavily modified single turbo Supra, supposedly has 600+ hp..major blowoff sounds here. Right click and save please:

What TEK_Xacto wrote is the closest so far. A dump valve releases the excess(sp?) boost pressure, so it dosn't travel back into, and destroy, the turbo.

GTS_Drifter - A wastegate is something else, not a dump valve. A Wastegate regulates the amont of exhaust pressure going into the turbo, according to the air pressure in to intake manifold.

Hope that made sence to ya'll Wink
